Richard Wilkins Plays Violin With André Rieu in Maastricht

Richard Wilkins and André Rieu

Richard Wilkins has teamed up with the world-famous violinist Andrew Rieu to record Waltzing Matilda, backed by a full orchestra. It seems that the two hit it off when Rieu was recently in town to spruik his ANZ Stadium concerts.
After Wilkins mentioned that he was also a violinist (he learned as a child) he was invited to spend some time in Rieu's castle in Maastricht, in the Netherlands and hang out with the massive concert star. It wasn't long before the pair were in the recording studio, putting Waltzing Matilda on tape. Wilkins will be showing the film on Tuesday's Today Show on Nine.

  1. They make a great team and you can tell Andre likes him a lot, he seemed so at eased as if they're old friends and I guess they are by now. Thanks Sue for the posting.

  2. And who said it's mostly us (WOMEN) chasing after the Dutch violinist??? Here's another proof that even a handsome man like Richard himself was almost speechless when he wanted to say what a great man André is!
I have an 80-yr-old male handsome fan at home who can tell you all the things he loves about André!!
Now it's my wish to play Waltzing Matilda with André one day....Dream on :D

  3. It's great to see the wonderful co-operation that's taking place with the Parlor, Sonja's Gb and Ineke and Ruud's Movie site .
    Well done to all concerned.
It's a great tribute to the message of HARMONY that Andre is spreading through his music.

    Cheers to all
