André Rieu "Today Australia" Press Release

Andre Rieu on Today (Australia)
By David Knox on November 9, 2008

Waltz king (these days his unofficial title) Andre Rieu is about to bombard us with his lavish concerts and send seniors, and possibly a few others, into a spin. The darling of the Ovation Channel, there have been some complaints about prices being asked to meet the violinist at a ticketed After Party. His Aussie tour begins in Melbourne on Thursday and ends in Brisbane in December.
The Today show will telecast part of a free concert at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Tuesday morning. Richard Wilkins will interview Rieu at 7.20am and Steve Jacobs will also be in attendance.
Press Release:
Melburnians are in for a treat when TODAY exclusively presents one of the biggest acts in the world, Andre Rieu, at a free concert in Federation Square next Tuesday morning, November 11.
Richard Wilkins, the Nine Network Entertainment Editor, will broadcast live from Melbourne and interview Rieu at 7.20am before the master of the classics takes to the stage for three unique and vivacious performances.
Thousands of fans are expected to flock to Federation Square to celebrate the man dubbed the “Modern King of Waltz” who attracted a crowd of 8000 people to Telstra Dome last year when word spread of a free performance.
TODAY weather presenter Steve Jacobs will be among the fans at Fed Square to capture all the excitement and anticipation as it happens, live to air.
Rieu arrives in Australia this weekend ahead of his World Stadium Tour: A Romantic Vienna Night which has been touted as one of the biggest and most talked about concerts in the world.
TODAY, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson, along with Cameron Williams, Georgie Gardner, Richard Wilkins, and Steve Jacobs, will proudly claim 2008 as Melbourne’s number one breakfast program.
