André Rieu Wants To Make Music at The North Pole!

André Rieu Waltzing At The North Pole?

André Rieu wants to make music with the locals of the Arctic, the Eskimo's and the Laplanders. The world famous violinist and orchestra leader wants to give a concert with the Eskimo's and Laplanders who will be playing their own traditional instruments, he said Thursday. Next summer Rieu aims to give a concert in the Arctic. He wants it to draw attention to the melting of the ice caps and the climate change. The musician is already preparing for what will be an expensive and complicated operation.

"We will go there with two icebreakers, and a public of one hundred'', says Rieu. "For the public, we will look for a couple from every nation in the world.''

The Maastricht violinist may soon be getting used to the ice as he will conduct two concerts in the Amsterdam ArenA on 5 and 6 September. He will perform there with 56 skaters from "Holiday on Ice". It is the first time that he is working with the skating company. With Holiday on Ice, he hopes to be able give more shows, for example in his Christmas concerts in the Gelredome the end of this year. "My hands are itching to be able to do more with them.''

Rieu, who is the fourth place artist of the Best Selling World Tours, will next year go on tour through South America. Five concerts are in the program for Brazil and possibly Chile and Argentina will be added to the list. "I've been learning Portuguese,'' said the musician. During the shows with Holiday on Ice in the ArenA, the Brazilian samba will pass in review.

This came in our 'Dutch News Alert' and we wanted you to be able to read it. Again, 'just small article' that we came out of our rest to post. Thanks for the Great Translation as always John ... now back to your train set. ;-)
