André Rieu Lost His Heart in Heidelberg

This year, André Rieu will record his traditional TV Special in Heidelberg . After recordings in the Waldbüne in Berlin, France, Tuscany, Vienna, New York, Dresden, and Melbourne, the "Waltz King" has now selected the charming city of Heidelberg. The most beautiful square in this city will be featured in this TV special.

On the "Heidelberg Kornmarkt" André Rieu will conduct a thrilling, Open Air Concert featuring the best known Waltzes, Opera and Operetta melodies. An additional concert will also take place on the "Kornmarkt Square" one day earlier on September 18, at 8:00PM.

André Rieu, the Dutch violinist and orchestra leader has up until now sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Together with his 50 member strong Johann Strauss Orchestra, he performs on tours in 5 continents. Every year more than 700,000 viewers experience his great concerts. He is therefor one of the top ten touring artists. In the U.S. he was crowned as the No.1 Classical Artists and in Australia, he has received more than 100 times, Platinum for his recordings and DVD's.

André Rieu: "Even as a child the world of music had intrigued me greatly. My father was a conductor and I can still remember the bombastic sounds of the orchestra, the many strings of which their bows were always simultaneously going in the same direction. The concert in Heidelberg will be recorded as a ZDF special and will be broadcast in October as a Eurovision Broadcast by ZDF(German TV), ORF(Austrian TV) and the Swiss Television Network, and eventually in many countries around the world.
