André Rieu Arrives in South Africa Missing Something

Rieu's Luggage Not in South Africa But in Barcelona

André Rieu and his orchestra arrived in South Africa without dresses and microphones. Upon their arrival these appeared to still be in Barcelona. According to a spokesperson, a load of reserve dresses and microphones will arrive in Johannesburg today. The Maastricht Concert Violinist will conduct his first concert in South Africa on Thursday. Eight more concerts will follow.

Just recently Rieu encountered problems arriving at the place of his destination. Because of the Icelandic ash cloud he was forced to charter an airplane.

Thanks for translating this John ~ we're not the only ones that have lost luggage it seems! ;-)

Note: According to Andre's twitter of 23 April, the dresses and microphones have subsequently arrived.

  1. When, oh when, will Andre lose that streak of fanatasism and learn to relax a bit.
Surely by now, he should know that we, his fans, don't care if they aren't sitting in gilt edge seats, with fancy backdrops and a million flowers surrounding the stage.
We don't care if the girls are wearing burlop sacks and the guys, trackydacks and singlets.
As long as they have their instruments, senses of humour, their voices and each other, is all that's needed.
Paramount surely Andre is the safety of the crew. Clothes etc can be replaced
And after all, no matter what you are wearing, or where you are sitting it's irrelevent. All we fans really want to see and hear are the Great one himself. the orchestra and singers.
May the South African trip now continue without an hitch and is a stunning success.

  2. Whow! That's a long one Lyndall, soooo you! I know what you meant but for André, everything has to be perfect, picture perfect, so that every audience has the most beautiful photographic memory. Yet, they have their other lovely side when they wear T-shirts and flip flops :)
