André Rieu Fans in Australia Say Good Bye To The Seekers

André Rieu Fans Say Good Bye To The Seekers

ANDRÉ Rieu Fans may get to see the Seekers final farewell. The pensioner pin-up personally requested the band to regroup to open for his Australian tour in October.

Seeker's guitarist Keith Potger said Rieu lured the band out of six years of retirement. "We had decided to hang up our guitars, but this was such an attractive offer," Potger told music writer Cameron Adams. "Our audience is André Rieu's audience and vice versa, They synergy was hard to deny. It would have been different if Jet had asked us to be guest artists on their show. Although I love Jet, I have their music on my iPod. But this is an audience marriage made in heaven."

The Seekers will fly to Europe to rehearse with Rieu before the Australian tour, but Potger is unsure if the band will form again. "The answer is I don't know," he said.

In the meantime Potger will perform at the Lord Mayor's Command Performance at the Melbourne Town Hall on July 2. The even raises money for the Support Act, a charity that looks after musicians in the times of hardship, illness and distress.

Thanks to Rob for sending the newspaper clipping of this!

Was Keith Potger suppose to have used the term "pensioner pin-up"? Or did the writer of the article make that stupid term up? Who wrote it anyway? Grrrr anyway.

Probably written by a very young journalist who doesn't understand the real meaning of the word, or many other words for that matter!!!
To many 'pensioner' doesn't indicate where their income is derived but just 'old person'. It's degrading!!!
