How André Rieu Won My Heart

How André Rieu Stole My Heart

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL By Laura Stevens

VIENNA -- Last weekend, watching balloons fall from the ceiling and sopranos hit the high notes during Rodgers and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone," I couldn't help but smile. The electric atmosphere, with thousands of white-haired fans screaming "bravo," was contagious.

A couple had formed in the orchestra, he told the crowd, and they'd come to him and told him they were in love. "Will you please stand?" he said, turning to face the musicians. The entire orchestra stood. "Now you have the whole evening to figure out who belongs to whom," he said.

As a classically trained violinist, I'd been skeptical about André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. I've attended hundreds of classical music concerts, ballets and operas. From the Berlin Philharmonic's stunning precision to the Boston Pops' fun take on movie music to the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's Fourth of July crowd pleaser, I'm always game for a good performance ...

André had Two articles come out today from The Wall Street Journal, Click on links below to read both full articles ...

These are both fantastic articles. I'm so happy to see him get some publicity here in the U.S. Can't wait to see the TV spots he has planned.

    Thanks, Sue, for posting these.

  2. Great reviews! But I can't stand people still announce his last name as "Ree-oo". As for the souvenir T-shirts, maybe they don't realize the boutique doesn't carry that much of a choice for ladies, the Australian website has nice ones but NOT the official one. Not many middle-aged (or above) female fans could fit in their T-shirts nicely, I happen to be oriental and we're smaller in average...and the fact is, we fans MADE our own Andre T-shirts!
