André Rieu's Dream!
The Dutch Soccer Team had a dream in South Africa. Similarly so did André Rieu. Team Orange did not quite get to realise their dream, but André Rieu did his. After a few promotional visits to the country, he performed a number of concerts, and was of course accompanied by his entire Johann Strauss Orchestra. The results were astonishing. The enthusiasm of the concert audiences was unprecedented and was at times accompanied by many emotions. The African singer Kimmy Skota and the children of Hout Bay Bloemfontein project specifically made great impressions.
This spring, his preparations for his concerts and the highlights of the concert in Cape Town were broadcast by TROS (Dutch TV). Every broadcast was watched by more than one million viewers and the Cape Town broadcast attracted 1.5 million viewers. Everything that has been broadcast, can now be found on "My African Dream".
DVD 1:
1. The first two rehearsals
2. Royal performances (for Queen Elizabeth and Queen Beatrix)
3. Problems caused by the ash cloud
4. The Hout Bay project
5. Very special guests in Cape Town
DVD 2:
Documentary / Concert
Total playing time: almost 3.5 hours
"My African Dream" will be available in the Netherlands on August 6th!

Just got all this news Al ~ nothing yet on where it will be available other then there are some Dutch Sites that are selling it online in August ...

The information posted on here is not quite correct. The two DVD set mentioned on here is all about Andre's South African tour. According to Andre's website, the Maastricht concert shown on ZDF on 21 Aug will have a german title (translated - "A summer night's dream" ) which I assume will be another seperate DVD altogether.

Hi peter ~ thanks for your input. This DVD Set that we have here is not the Maastricht Concert, it is all about his South Africa Tour and Concerts and will come in a Two DVD Set. The information on the two discs is in the Article.
ReplyDeleteThe ZDF Showing of Maastricht's Concerts on André's Website under Agenda were listed as "My African Dream" André Rieu in Maastricht ... but I see he has just changed that today to the German Title you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up on it!
I can't wait for both - South Africa and Maastricht DVDs to be released in Australia. I hope they are.

ReplyDeleteAndré must be one busy boy right now editing and preparing these DVDs for airing on ZDF and for distribution later. South Africa, Maastricht and Mainau....most people spend their holiday relaxing, but not our André. He just continues to work!!! And WE are the lucky beneficiaries!

ReplyDeleteI am curious, but I expect one of the DVDs to be the complete S.African roadsoap as broadcast on Dutch TV. And the second one will probably be the Maastricht concert.
