Will André Rieu Lose His Blond Goddess?
The Telegraaf by Wilma Nanninga
AMSTERDAM: Because of the 61 year old André Rieu, Mirusia Louwerse lives in a fairy tale. Four years ago, her aunt wrote a letter to the violin virtuoso to draw his attention to her niece living in Australia. The blonde singer was welcomed with open arms. She emigrated to Limburg. But the almost 26-year-old soprano is now returning since she suffers from homesickness.
Will The Violinist Miss His Goddess?
"In May I will return to the country of my birth. My parents are Dutch, but like to remain in Australia. I've really missed them in recent years. I do not know how much longer they will still be around, maybe in five years they might be ill or deceased. They are the only ones I have, I have no brothers nor sisters."
It was not an easy decision because Mirusia's sweetheart still lives in the Netherlands. Shyly she says: "Australia sounds so far away, but in 24 hours you can be there. I do not find a trip like that to be a problem. Sebastian will come to Australia as often as possible. He's already been there eight times with me. Here we do not always see each other either, he lives in Amsterdam, I in Maastricht. Through his work as a freelance sound engineer, he often tours with André. And that is how we got to know each other. The first time I saw him was only from behind. I thought 'what lovely blonde hair! "And when he turned around, I saw that he also has a very sweet face. Blushingly I said, 'hi' and felt as if I was fifteen again!"
Mirusia is not afraid that when she returns to Australia, he will be looking for another girl friend. "He understands my life style and accepts it. That is so special of him".
Note: Although this article appears to indicate that Mirusia is leaving André, this is definitely not what we have heard from reliable sources. Mirusia will continue to tour with André, but will be commuting back and forth from Australia ... we are waiting for more information and will post it as soon as we receive it.
Thanks to Ineke for sending this to us and John for ©Translating it
When I saw THAT headline, I thought oh no, not our Mirusia leaving Andre. To read the article though, I am thrilled for her that she has found someone to love. She is a beautiful girl, and we are lucky she is Australian, maybe we will see her "solo", which would be lovely also.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward very much to Andre's Tour Down Under in May, and seeing Mirusia again. Thanks for the translation, and keeping us in the picture. cheeRIEU, Val & Vic. F. Gp.
It's nice to see a pic here with Mirusia and Sebastian together, but then it got scary when it says Mirusia not performing with Andre, though I understand how she misses her parents, glad you have a note at the bottom or I might have trouble sleeping tonight. Sooo sweet she admitted she's like 15. Sebastian is indeed VERY sweet.
ReplyDeletePlease don't abandon us Mirusia! of course you miss your wonderful family..
ReplyDeleteI hope you are considering making Oz your 'base', but join all the concert tours and Maastricht too of course .
I don't want her ever to leave Andre's orchestra. They are perfectly matched. That said, I only wish happiness for her. She brings so much joy to me. Bless you, Mirusia and please continue to perform with that voice that was touched by God.
