Maastricht Concert Tickets Go Onsale Friday 13th

ATTENTION MAASTRICHT CONCERT GOERS!
Maastricht Concert Ticket Sales Will Start This Friday!
This Friday sales will start for the concerts in Maastricht. Mega sales of tickets in Sao Paulo are making the Maastricht dates still uncertain ...
The concert dates for the André Rieu concert dates on the Vrijthof for this year are still unknown. Allthough ticket sales will start Friday, according to a spokesperson of the municipality in spite of uncertainty surrounding the concerts. Rieu and Mayor Onno Hoes will together provide an explanation on Friday.
Tickets for the annual concert of André Rieu Vrijthof have for quite some time been for sale in many ticket shops on the internet. The VVV also offers tickets for sale on its site. And indicates on its site: "In 2012 Andre Rieu will once again organizes the Vrijthof concerts in his hometown. Book your group package for this spectacle now!" When asked what can be ordered and especially for which date, the answer to that question however, remains a mystery to everyone. André Rieu Productions, the municipality of Maastricht, Maastricht Tourist and catering businesses of the Vrijthof could or did not want to give anyone an answer this week. It is not inconceivable that Andre Rieu wants to play as long as possible in Brazil. Indeed, sales of concerts in May and June this year are selling like hot cakes. Twelve concerts in Sao Paulo were sold out in no time. Sources report to the Maastricht Actueel that Rio de Janeiro also beckons. What do you think of a concert of the Maastricht citizen on the most famous beach in the world: Copa Cobana. Andre Rieu is hot news there in the land of the samba and the world's most famous violinist can greatly benefit from it all there next spring to early summer.
As it looks right now Andre Rieu will give his last concert in Sao Paulo on June 10 this year. Should the series be extended, the start date of the next round would be July 6 - that is the date indicated on the events calendar of Maastricht - and will perhaps come under pressure. Tuesday Andre Rieu Productions ensured that the Maastricht citizen will absolutely again this year have his concert streak in his hometown on the Vrijthof. The dates, however, remain a little unclear. Also again on Friday Andre Rieu and Onno Hoes will give further details about the upcoming concerts, but the dates may still not yet be known. However, that day the ticket sales will start.
Thanks to John for Translating this for us as soon as he woke up!! :)

  1. I am curious to hear the explanation on Friday Jan. 13th. But I am disappointed by the last sentence of the article: ...."but the dates may still not yet be known"..... How can you buy a ticket without a date???

  3. Indeed: a crazy Friday the 13th! I asked in his guestbook where we can see "the explanation". On TV?? on Limburg Radio?? His website?? Or in the paper??? No idea!!
Imagine: you buy a ticket (not cheap!) and he announces: the concerts will be in August!!! And what when your holiday is over??
    No, it is very bad!!!

  4. Don't they get it? They need to work around the Maastricht dates, not the other way around. I think he is generating a lot of negative feelings. Of course if he wants to keep conquering new territory and let the established fans take second best, the message will be received, and people can do what they wish with the message.

  5. I have only booked accommodation for the early part of the Concert season in Maastricht. It started out as an exciting adventure but I am less enthusiastic now. We cannot afford to outlay this expense, waiting for concert dates to be confirmed. I am thinking that I may cancel the hotel booking and hopefully start afresh in 2013. It seems too risky at this stage. Has fame and fortune gone to Andre's head over Brazil and places in South America? It makes me wonder if he will ever return to places that he has conquered.

  7. Lois, I am with you! As much as I love Andre and his concerts, I am concerned that indeed he seems besotted with winning over South America, etc. I feel for those with accommodation and flights booked from Australia, for this July, not knowing what is in store. I'm beginning to think he won't return to our shores ever, and I hate the thought. Val, Melbourne ):

I agree with everyone so far. Andre's fans wishing to travel to Maastricht for the usual July concerts need to arrange holidays, travel, accommodation etc.. I know Andre loves to take his magic all over the World, but the World also loves to come to him in July in his home town. He is obviously creating a fanatical response in Brazil etc, but perhaps he should consider firming up the "back bone" of the year first - he can always go back to Brazil later in the year?? They will still love him, as we do.

  9. I too have my works Annual Leave booked around July 6th onnwards, and I have a provisional booking at a Hotel, but as each day goes by, the cost of travel increases, let us hope this does not backfire on him, also Gold Members get a 1 day headstart on booking tickets, if they are 'released' on Friday 13th, then they will have been penalised, as they should have first access today 12th !
    all seems odd.

I am getting very worried now about this Maastricht situation. Not only for myself and my dreams of seeing Andre in his hometown possibly being shattered, but mostly for Andre himself and what this fiasco could do to his reputation.

It's a predicament for his organisation too though and I would imagine that they (including Andre) are concerned about what to do...financially they will want to be selling as much as they possibly can during this tour, and if Sth America is being more viable financially then of course they will want to stay there as long as possible. And I also wonder if they, and Andre, fully realise the massive extent to which his regular fans plan their lives around coming to Maastricht in July?

I'm a little miffed also about having paid my dues to become a Gold Member, yet have no priority in buying these tickets tomorrow.

I just hope and pray, for everyone's sake (not least Andre's!) that this mess is sorted out, and fast!

  11. I too am a Gold member and presumed I would have a "head start". I am a 71 year old carer for a very disabled and poorly husband who is 81. I had been so looking forward to my first visit to Maastricht. I only needed a single room and booked one with the Hotel d'Orange, who cheekily took my money on the day of booking and will not allow me to cancel. I feel disappointed for all who have planned their holidays around the July dates....
What is the Maestro thinking of? It looks as if he is forgetting us.
    Surely not? Madeleine

  12. Thanks for your support of fans, Ineke. Even those of us who are not going to Maastrich but who follow Andre are upset. I hesitate to ask, but where is Marjorie in all this? Kirsten?

  13. Hi everybody!

Can someone tell me where to still get tickets for the Vrijthof concert(s)?

My grandma loves his music so much and this year I would like to give her a very special present for her birthday.

Thanks in advance for any tips!
