Again a Huge Setback For André Rieu
André Rieu has again cancelled concerts. The violinist appears to be sicker than expected. "André is extrememly over tired," according to his spokeswoman.
"It really has a hold on him," told spokeswoman Kerstin Cornelis to RTL Boulevard. "He can not even do any rehearsals. We have removed everything from the schedule. The important thing is that there is nothing he has to think about and that he will rest."
Even his wife and son Pierre think that André needs to come to a halt when things do not work.
In the meantime, André has cancelled all his tours in Germany, Denmark, Austria and France. That amounts to 30 cancelled concerts. The tour through France will be rescheduled to October. "For the rest of the year André has a busy schedule to catch up with all the cancelled concerts and his tour in Brazil in April and May."
The violinist is not only suffering from fatigue, but a few weeks ago, André also suffered from the flu which apparently affected his equilibrium, a weak spot in his body which will probably always remain so."
This is not the first time that André has had problems with his balance. In 2010, the 62-year-old violinist had an infection on his equilibrium and he could not perform.
The Dutch concerts are not yet in danger. The violinist performs 22,23,24 and 26 June in Maastricht.
According to L1, the concert tour will tentatively resume on April 20th in Odensee, Denmark.This is a make-up concert from a previously scheduled date.

How can this happen to such a wonderful man and the best entertainer ever?itardse evessecr His health and family are most important thing, even if he needs to retire--sure would be a loss to millions but that is not important now.
ReplyDeleteAre they saying dear Andre has Post-viral fatigue? Hope not. It's very unpleasant and can be extremely severe. There is just no "petrol in the tank" to do anything. The brain is willing but the body can't. Seems to complicate the recent flu and balance infection (labyrinthitis) that has been going around. Took me 3 months to recover from it, and then the labyrinth was still inflamed, possibly forever, I was told, even though the giddiness/violent room spinning abated promptly.
