Mirusia Still Calls Redlands Home
June 14, 2012: OPERA singer Mirusia Louwerse, will return to the Redlands to launch her first solo Australian east coast tour. Aptly named Home, the tour will start at Redland Performing Arts Centre in Cleveland on Thursday, July 5.
Mirusia’s family still lives at Birkdale, but for the past five years, Mirusia has lived in Europe and travelled the world as violin maestro André Rieu’s soprano.
►Her Special Guest For The Tour Is Sam Moran
After the RPAC concert, Mirusia will perform at the Powerhouse Theatre in Brisbane on July 7, before heading to Melbourne and finishing at the Sydney Opera House.
Songs will include some old favourites like "Ave Maria" and "I Still Call Australia Home" as well as some of her own compositions including "Forever Shine".
“There’s no place like home, and that is why I am so excited to be returning home after five years touring around the world with André Rieu, to perform for you all back at my home, Australia,” Mirusia said.
Tickets are available through www.mirusia.net and through RPAC on 3829 8131.
Too much about Mirusa--this is Andre website.
ReplyDeleteAndre got her started, made her famous and now, if not mistaken, she is leaving going out on her own.
She has a beautiful voice but wonder if she took advantage of him and his kindness.
mary
To Mary.
ReplyDeleteThis is not Andre's website. It is Sue's site and it is up to her what she posts here!!! We know Mirusia and she did not take advantage of Andre. She, like Carla and Carmen before her is spreading her wings, and will be back with Andre at times just like the other girls before her!!!
Sonja
Well said Sonja! I don't think I need to waste time adding anything to it. Thank you ... xxx
ReplyDeleteBut not Susan :(
ReplyDeleteOr Celine :(
But this news is truly great. Marvellous!!!
Fernando Dos Santos
Fernando ~ There IS news on here of Suzan, we even have video of her in Norway singing. But she hasn't done anything for quite awhile, she's been busy having her baby and being a new mom right now.
ReplyDeleteBut, Suzan is a member of The Harmony Parlor on Facebook!! :)
I was rather annoyed by that rather dumb comment by "pixie42". Some people tend to forget that Sue relies on other people to provide her with the news articles for her to post on this forum. We don't know Andre's or Mirusia's future plans. But I think that Andre would have been keen to mainly feature Carmen, Carla and Kimmi on his current concerts in Brazil. Also, I have seen many people requesting news about Suzan Erens. There again, Sue can only post information that other people provide to her.
ReplyDeleteSue Berry - thank you for your work on Harmony Parlour.
Regards - Peter Kuehn
I mean: someone say all girls coming back, but not Susan and Celine :-)
ReplyDelete:-(
Sorry for misunerstnanding, your site is great!
Fernando
I totally agree, Sonja & Sue....Mirusia is very grateful to Andre for all he has done for her, and her desire is to join up with him again next year, just like Carmen & Carla. Also, yes, this is your site Sue, and what you post is of great interest to us all. With love from us Aussies, to our Honorary Member of the Andre Rieu Victorian Friendship Group.....xxx
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about Andre is that he features many different singers and performers in his shows. I'm sure he's very proud of Mirusia and pleased that her talents will be put to good use with some solo touring. I'm going to see her on her solo Australian tour and am really looking forward to it!
Mirusia recently appeared on Australia TV on channel 9's Mornings and she performed Botany Bay.
I recorded it and here it is on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E2v4UbecV0
Cheers,
Jillian
We will miss Mirusia, but she will be back from time to time. She recently said that Andre encouraged her to strike out on her own.
ReplyDeleteAnd I still remember Andre appearing at the New Jersey PBS station (on August 9, 2003) for promotion of an upcoming tour. They played "Live in Dublin" for the first time with Carmen and Carla both singing. The station interviewer just raved at the talent of those two girls. And Andre agreed that they were a wonderful addition and said that he was happy to GIVE THEM A START IN THEIR CAREERS. It was never intended that soloists would be with him forever.
Incidentally, Celine was in the choir for a long time, though she did solo at the performance and taping at Radio City Music Hall in 2006. Carmen sang in Vienna and Maastricht that summer, but had another engagement on the Radio City date. (Celine does have a lovely voice and seems to be out on her own.)

pixie42, I think your out of line. Andre signs his performers to a five year contract. As much that I hate to see her gone on a regular basis that's the deal that was made. I wish her the best and look forward to seeing her again with Andre in the future.
ReplyDeleteI just wish it was Kimmy's time up instead. She in my opinion is the worst singer of all his group. Should have promoted one of the choirs gals.
Wow, Unknown, you're not very nice either, are yu?
ReplyDeleteAnd no, he doesn't sign his performers to five year contracts. The tenors, for instance, go year by year.

I've been so busy with Sue's Harmony Parlor FaceBook I'd almost forgotten (or been too busy!) to check the news on the original H.P.
ReplyDeleteNow that I have, I am stunned at some of the comments made about Mirusia, Kimmy etc. They are all fantastic talents in their own right and I'm sure they will continue to be part of Andre's future concerts when the time is right. In the meantime, let's all be thankfull for the marvellous concerts Andre, the JSO and his talented soloists have provided for us in the past and long may there be many more in the future..
