Vegemite Tasting On The Vrijthof !!!

Who is right ~ André or Mirusia ??? An invitation is issued to everyone to join us at GAUCHO's by the Vrijthof and "Judge For Yourselves" as plates of crackers with Vegemite will be served to all, followed by singing the Vegemite song. Printed sheets will be available for those not familiar with the words of the jingle! You can also watch the video below to see Mirusia singing it.
We look forward to seeing you all there!!! ... Sunday at 3:30
I would like to add my personal suggestion that you all order a drink of your choice at Gaucho's before tasting your Vegemite ... ;-)

A nice cup of tea goes very well with Vegemite on toast!

I plan to join them in the tasting - from Idaho! It will be 7:30 a.m. my time on the 12th. I'm told I can have it for breakfast on toast (just a tinge). I found a small jar at an import store yesterday, so I'll save it for the occasion. Anyone else game???

  6. An ABSOLUTE tinge Chris. Downunder we have "Idaho potatoes", many mother's mix a little vegemite into their young children's mashed potatoes !!!!!!!

Hi Jann, I suppose I could try adding the remaining Vegemite, in small amounts, to stews, mashed potatoes or whatever, rather than vita-boosting the pets. And even though I'm mostly a coffee drinker, I'll have a cup of tea with my taste of vegi-toast (I like the idea of cutting it into "soldiers"), as suggested by your guestbook regulars.

Vegemite is really really really nice on crusty fresh bread with lashings of nice cold thick spread of butter and a spread of vegemite. I eat vegemite for breakfast lunch and dinner and just looooooove it. Also get some jatz, spread with vegemite and a chunk of cheese on top. Also good to flavour soup and give it zing. Also good for mouth ulcers!

Hi Kate the Aussie: Nice to learn of the different uses for Vegemite - but, what is jatz? You must have been one of those among your countrymen who started on the stuff from infancy :-).

Mother Superior is correct.. it goes purrfect with a nice cuppa tea.
(Mind you I am only familiar so far with Marmite, and am currently arranging for a pot to be posted to me from the UK, ‘Andre class’..)
