New André Rieu Book "King of The Waltz" by AD

AD Book ~ Thirty Year Jubilee of André Rieu
From AD ~ Algemeen Dagblad, Dutch newspaper

What an honor to receive such a beautiful book from the AD to celebrate my 30th Anniversary on stage! I am almost embarrassed. When such a book is published about your career, it seems like you should have worked very hard for 30 years. And these past 30 years really seemed like one big party, they actually flew by. It is fantastic to perform night after night for an audience of thousands and afterwards see them happy while returning home. I cannot imagine a better life. It is something to be very grateful for.
In the first place, I like to thank my audience for the heartwarming applause received after each concert for all those 30 years. That is the greatest form of appreciation an artist can get. I like to thank the AD from the bottom of my heart, since they have been able to summarize and visualize those 30 years in such a brilliant way.
Actually I only have one purpose in life, to make as many people as possible happy with music. "May I be allowed to continue on with this for a long time" ... André Rieu
About the New Book: There are a lot of highlights from several concerts on the DVD: the Semper Opera in Leipzig (Dancing Through The Skies), a lot of waltzing from Vienna (Schönbrunn and Hofburg). Of course the book is called, 'The King of The Waltz'. Also on the DVD is, 'My Way' (Radio City Music Hall), 'Amazing Grace' with the bagpipers and 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
The last part of the DVD is "Behind The Scenes" which we have never seen before!!! So that is all completely new to us. Very nice, but it is of course in Dutch without subtitles. We see Frank Steijns playing the piano, while André is rehearsing the song "Mama" with the Three Tenors. We hear why André changed the original idea of calling a new CD "Songs For My Mum" (changed to "You Raise Me Up"). We see the Dutch jet set photographer, Govert Roos taking pictures of André in his garden and orangerie. And we hear André and Pierre talk about the birth of the twins while André was performing in Australia ... Ineke
Ruud and I will start sending the books off on Thursday August 19th to those who ordered them from us. Depending on the distance as to where you live, you may expect to receive the book(s) in a couple of days /weeks ...

  5. Wow, wow, woooooow!! Dearest Sue and John, you made a fantastic article out of the newspaper pages we sent you. The CD which is in the book, contains a part "behind the scenes" of new material, never showed before. Of course it is only in Dutch, but Ruud and I are working on the subtitles (checked by John: we keep you busy, buddy!).
    Love you!
    Ineke.

  7. I second MaryAnn's comment.
Without Sue's artistic talents and dedication to the Parlor we'd all be scrambeling for anything André. The time and efforts she spends here is a huge effort of love and we should all be thankful she is willing to dedicate as much time as she does to the Parlor. My sincere kudos to Sunshine....
