André Rieu's "Coronation Waltz"

André Rieu's King's Waltz to Premier With Giel
André Rieu visited Giel on April 3rd for the premier of his King's waltz.
Giel received an important visitor on Wednesday. None other than the waltz king André Rieu who entered the 3FM studio that morning. And if that was not enough, he also brought with him a very important CD.

The King's Waltz for The King's Ball
André Rieu will be performing on 30 April during the king's ball in Amsterdam. For this special occasion, the Limburg violinist composed a special King's Waltz. André told Giel that the British had asked him to compose a waltz for their Queen: "And we did that, but then I thought there also needs to be a waltz for Willem-Alexander and Maxima!"
No one asked André Rieu to compose a King's Waltz. Giel thought that André had been asked to compose this Dutch Waltz, but that was not the case said André: "No, I was not asked at all, I did it all myself, nothing more. And I just forwarded it on." Apparently the waltz pleased the organizers and now André Rieu will play live during the King's Ball this coming April 30th in Amsterdam.

  2. Just listened and really like it. Great for a coronation. It basically is a really classy medley of a variety of old classic dutch homeland songs. He did a great job in blending them.
