I have purchased Denon DVD's of Andre concerts in the past. They are the WORST quality. One concert was so bad that I returned the disc to Amazon.com. Denon compresses the video information onto DVD5 (short format) discs, whereas the DVD purchased from Andre website are on DVD9 (long format). ie: better sound and picture quality.
I suggest everyone purchase their dvd's and cd's directly from Andre's site and request priority shipping. You'll get them in a week.
Hi Rick,
I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with your DVD's from Denon. I know things can happen like that no matter where you get them from though and can be frustrating.
I have gotten all but 4 of my DVD's through Amazon.com and have never had any trouble with them. And I have to say the sound and picture is just as good as the four I got from Andre's Website.
With the euro/dollar being what it is now, a lot of people just can't afford it through Andre's Website. I know my Wonderland DVD came to $36.00 through Andre's site ~ a lot more than what it is through Amazon.com.
It's just good to know everyone has options now on it. ~ Sue :)
I don't want to get in the middle of a discussion on this, but since Andre signed a contract with Denon a few years back, they have made the DVDs and CDs that PBS sells on their pledge drives ~ for a lot of money. I usually buy my products from Andre's Boutique because I want them immediately and don't want to wait a year or so before they appear for sale in this country.
"Wonderland" is being used for PBS pledging much earlier than the new products usually are and also will be in our shops, soon. [Could this be because of the cutbacks on tours over here after this Spring, as PBS won't need a new product for tour ticket promotion and sales during the summer?]
As Sue said, we do have options.

Think I need to clarify my comment. As I said, I buy new products from the Boutique when they are first available, but if I need more for gifts later, I buy Denon products from Amazon or other sources. I have not noticed a difference in quality. With the falling dollar, I just checked out Boutique prices and they are $37.92 today for DVDs.
I read that it is helping our exports greatly and New York City is weathering the downturn well as so many Europeans are coming over to shop, see shows, stay in hotels, eat in restaurants and buy apartments and condos. Great bargains for them.
But not helpful to Andre selling from the Boutique to us in the States. [Though his travel expenses over here should benefit!]
