World Stadium Tour Amsterdam

October 25, 2008 ~ Translated by Sonja

Andre Rieu Magically Changes World Stadiums Into The
Viennese Schonbrunn Square

Amsterdam ~ Andre Rieu is a world famous star. And like it is becoming for a world star, the king of Waltz is organizing a world tour for next year which goes to the largest stadiums around the world, and he will not leave anything to chance. Viennese horses, ice dancers, 250 artists, a sparkling light show and even a life size reproduction of the Viennese palace Schonbrunn the star will drag the around the world in the coming months. The Andre Rieu World tour Stadium tour ~ A romantic night in Vienna will have its premiere on December 14, 2007 in Toronto. Next the tour will be in Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Leipzig, Paris and Brussels.

Arena
On June 28, 2008 Rieu and his entourage will descent in the Amsterdam Arena. The show which takes place on and before the largest mobile decor in the world, is hard to describe. Of course the public will get to see Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra and the choir, many well known soloists and the
Vienna state ballet.

Ice Dancers
But also Ice dancers on two skating rinks in front of Schonbrunn, 36 White Traditional Viennese horses, a golden carriage with Sissi and Frans-Jozef, dozens of chandeliers and exuberant costumes. "It is going to be tremendously enjoyable, a real fairytale evening", according to Rieu on Thursday during the presentation of his tour. He is especially proud of the enormous replica of the Viennese palace.

Tears

"I had tears in my eyes when I first saw it" The enormous decor, which will be transported in 125 sea containers, is 125 (375 feet) 30 (90 feet)
meters deep and 34 (102 feet) high. The building has a golden ballroom, and two skating rinks of a total of 600 square meters (6.600 square feet). It takes 100 builders five 24 hour days of hard work to build the Schonbrunn decor. Especially for his show in Amsterdam, Rieu together with the Arena is developing a special system to bring the acoustics to a higher level. (the arena is known to have bad acoustics)

Rest
"I will not rest until the acoustics here are like they have never been before", according to the man from Limburg. "And that is also good for the following artists who will play here. A romantic night in Vienna is for the time being one evening in the Arena, but that could possibly become two, thee, four or five,
says Rieu. Actually this decor is not suitable for only one night"!

A Note From Suzan on Her Myspace

Why Suzan Missed The Last Few Concerts This Tour

Hello ... Well I'm back from the USA ... Unfortunatly I had to leave the tour early.. I was forced to stay in bed with fever and no voice.. So at one point it was better to go home and get well :( Now being at home (already a copple of days) I'm feeling much better and can look forward to my concert the 3th of Nov.. Now knowing the final program it's promissing to be a nice evening with all kinds of musicstyle's.. The choir, the conductor and strings are a pleasure to work with..and of course I'm gonna be enjoying singing with Ernst Daniel Smid.. Well bye for now ... take care ya all. Hear and see ya later..

Letter From "Denon" On Being An Ambassador

There have been a lot of you asking about the André Rieu
Ambassador promotion and if you can do it in Australia also.
from Denon and I thought I would post it here as it explains what it is
and where ~ the letter should clear this up for everyone now.

Thank you for your note. Here is some clarification:

The promotion we are doing is for the United States only. The actual title we are using is Official Denon Ambassadors for Andre Rieu. We have made no arrangements for that promotion outside of the United States.

We have over 200 fans enlisted in the United States as Denon Ambassador’s for Andre Rieu and we expect that number to grow to 500 plus by the spring.
As many of our fans are not aware of which record labels have the rights to Andre Rieu products in different countries, there may have been some confusion.

We have received emails from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada from folks pleading to be a part of this exciting team. Unfortunately we do not legally have the rights to sell cds and dvds directly to those countries. We have taken the liberty of contacting all of our Denon Ambassadors to remind them that our efforts are U.S. exclusive.

The person mentioned in your note may have been unaware that this was a U.S. only promotion and has subsequently been notified.

A New Interview With André In Melbourne

Here is a link to a 'two part' interview with André in Melbourne
that we haven't seen before ... He tells a lot about his coming tour there.
You have to suffer through a commercial in the beginning, but it's worth it!
There's some cute and funny parts in it.

Here is another link to same interview, but without the commercial.

Andre's "Flipped" Cover Photo

I thought I would put this on here to show what André was talking about
in this last soap regarding the Magazine Cover photo.
For those of you that haven't seen it, this is the cover that he was so unhappy about ...
They reversed his photo and you can see how it turned
his pleasant smile into almost a smirk. Whenever you flip a photo like that,
it changes the facial expression ... He DID like the article though!! :)

Slumber My Darling

"Slumber My Darling With Suzan"
It's been slow on news the past few days, so I asked Arie if he
would upload "Slumber My Darling" onto Youtube so we could add it here.
Although it's not a Christmas song, it is from Andre's DVD
"Christmas Around The World"
The holidays are right around the corner and if you don't have the DVD
you might want to think of getting it now ... it's wonderful!!
THANK YOU ARIE!!!

Slumber My Darling
By American Songwriter Stephen Foster in 1862

Slumber, my darling, thy mother is near,
Guarding thy dreams from all terror and fear,
Sunlight has pass'd and the twilight has gone,
Slumber, my darling, the night's coming on.

Sweet visions attend thy sleep,
Fondest, dearest to me,
While others their revels keep,
I will watch over thee.

Slumber, my darling, the birds are at rest,
Wandering dews by the flow'rs are caressed,
Slumber, my darling, I'll wrap thee up warm,
And pray that the angels will shield thee from harm.

Sweet visions attend thy sleep,
Fondest, dearest to me,
While others their revels keep,
I will watch over thee.

Slumber, my darling, the birds are at rest,
The wandering dews by the flow'rs are caressed,
Slumber, my darling, I'll wrap thee up warm,
And pray that the angels will shield thee from harm.

Suzan's Concert November 3rd in Maastricht

By Sonja
I received a request from a man in Holland Frank van Gils. He told me he
is a member of the Royal St Caecilia choir in Heer-Maastricht.
They are celebrating their 150 year anniversary with a concert and Suzan
will be singing.

He wrote he has to do the publicity for the concert on November 3 and he does

not have a good enough picture of Suzan, It has to be at least 1mb. So he wrote
to ask if I had one of the pictures on my site in full size. He said he would have
asked Suzan but she was in the Us on tour. I sent him the above picture that I
took in Atlantic City last year and he liked it and is going to use it for the
newspaper.

He also sent me this poster for the concert.

A Little Preview Of Portland's Concert From Chris T.

André At The Portland Oregon Concert

Hi Everyone, We just got back to Boise from the Portland concert late this afternoon. It was fabulous in every way! We'll write more soon and send pictures - got some pretty good ones for having just a small
camera. It was pretty much like the US spring tour, but minus Carmen, and it all seemed fresh.

They got a lot of standing ovations, the ones I remember most specifically were Torna a Surriento, Wishing you were somehow here again, and Bolero.

Here's a little preview ~ I'll try to get the story together within a week or so. ~ Chris T

Savoy Label Group Sweeps The Charts

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) The Savoy Label Group hit an unprecedented milestone in the label group's history when not one but two albums charted at Number One last week. Jim Brickman's "Homecoming" on the SLG label took a scant week to top the chart since its street date on September 25.

Andre Rieu's "Radio City Music Hall Live in New York" on Denon topped the Classical charts this week as well.

His first-ever concert spectacular filmed in the U.S., "Radio City Music Hall Live in New York" captures the blockbuster performance at the iconic landmark theatre, Radio City Music Hall. Special guest stars include the world-renowned Harlem Gospel Choir, The Platinum Tenors, and child-prodigy Akim Camara. Andre Rieu has always been an artist who has generated unparalleled excitement within (and beyond) the realm of classical music.

His spectacular specials produced around the world have consistently been the #1 performing pledge drive programs for PBS, his last twelve CD's have landed within the top of Billboard's Classical chart with several achieving the #1 spot, he's won multi-platinum video sales awards for his DVD sets "The Ultimate Andre Rieu Collection" and "The Ultimate Andre Rieu Christmas Collection" and his tours have grown bigger each year regularly selling out arenas in the US and landing him in the Top 5 of Pollstar Magazine's top touring acts year after year.

Newsletter From Bert and Shirley ~ Mirusia's Fan Club

Hi fans ~ Without a doubt, the most exciting news for this letter is the official announcement of the Australian tour by Andre Rieu and the JSO. The tour will be late November and early December, 2008. Concerts are anticipated for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Hopefully all you Australian fans were fortunate enough to either see Andre being interviewed on television, or to hear him on the radio interviews.

The thousands of Andre fans are going to be ecstatic at the prospect of seeing and hearing him perform here in Australia. We, Mirusia's ardent fans, are going to be as equally as excited. We think for us the excitement will be ever so much more, due to our close association with Mirusia. We are just so proud of her, and her achievements. Her parents must be literally "over the Moon"!

Concerts have resumed again after the European summer vacation. These began with concerts in Arnhem in Holland. Our nephew and brother-in-law attended one of these concerts, and have given it rave reviews.
It was the first time they
had seen Mirusia performing, and like the rest of us, they were most impressed with her talent. Members of her family were also in the audience for these concerts. They left positive messages in the Guest Book about the concert, and especially about Mirusia.

There have also been 3 concerts in Tokyo in Japan. Mirusia thought Tokyo was just GREAT! The city is very different to other cities she has visited during her concert tours. It is a busy place, but she said the audiences were most welcoming and warming, and the venue was fantastic. Take a look at Page 2 in the Images section on the web site, to see a photo of Mirusia in Tokyo!

There won't be any rest for the cast and crew either, now that they have returned to Holland from Japan, as the next concert tour in the U.S.A. and Canada commences with a concert in Portland, Oregon on October 9.

We are hoping over the coming few months that we will be adding some exciting new pages, etc. to the fan club site. Please keep logging in to the site, so that you can add comments, and enjoy looking at these new additions.

Until next month, best regards ~ from Bert and Shirley.

André Has Reason To Be Proud!!

André Rieu Owns The Australia DVD Chart
by Paul Casmere - October 1, 2007

Dutch born violinist and orchestra leader Andre Rieu has 9 of the Top 10 DVDs on the Australian chart this week.
Rieu is without a doubt the most successful act on the Australian chart of 2007 so far and has virtually owned the Australian DVD chart for most of the year.

Every title in the Top 6 this week is a Rieu title. Only Pink shares a place in the Top 10 with the maestro. She holds down the number 7 position.
Rieu has a total of 12 DVD titles in the Top 20.

Andre Rieu tells Undercover that he will bring his orchestra to Australia in November 2008 for shows at Melbourne's Telstra Dome, Sydney's Telstra Stadium and in Brisbane.
Dates will be revealed soon.

Chris Tromburg ~ Portland Bound!

Thrill of Autumn
Christina Tromburg

Multi~hued foliage so finely dressed,
The kick of a nip in the air.
A misty morn and a crunch underfoot,
Could there be a more welcome guest?

A vista of brilliance, oh, how we're blessed
A time for grateful reflection.
What greater thrill does the Autumn bring?
Yes! RIEU to our U.S. Northwest!!!

Portland bound ~ One more week!!! Margaret and I went to Andre’s concert in Seattle last year, along with my sister and her daughter. (Margaret is in the pink shirt, I’m in the blue) This year, we’re going to Portland and will be taking two others from Boise with us: Nancy and Susan. They are FAR crazier than we are ;-). My sister can’t make it this year, but we’ll have a great time, I’m sure! Even though our seats aren’t nearly as good as last year (we’re back in the corner - house left - and up one level), there’s always the encores! Susan said she would be brave enough to go down front toward the end. It will depend on what the Portland crowd is like. As I mentioned in my story last year, Margaret and I went to high school together, and we’ve known Nancy since early college days. Susan is Nancy’s neighbor, whom I’ve just met this year. Nancy, apparently, had been talking to her about her friend Chris’ crazy obsession with some Dutch classical group. Ha! She enthusiastically shared that she and her mother have been Rieu fans for years! Susan’s family is German on her mother's side. Her mother still lives there most of the time, and Susan was raised there but now lives in the States with her American husband and twin sons. We’re looking forward not only to the concert, but to all the folks we’ll meet in Portland. We’ll be back with a report AS SOON AS we can! ~ Chris T.
