Option For Rieu To Do "Three Weekends" on The Vrijthof André Rieu and the city council of Maastricht are taking into consideration that the orchestra leader wants to conduct 9 concerts on the Vrijthof, divided into three weekends. The Vrijthof will be occupied for two weeks as an events location.

Pre sale for the concert tickets for the weekend of 16, 17 and 18 July has started. If these tickets are sold quickly, the sale of tickets for
the 23 rd, 24th and 25th of July will begin. If the sale for these is also brisk then the weekend of July 30, 31 and August 1 will come into play.
The city council has approached Rieu to keep some days in check should the weather for some concert days be less than desirable.
According to the city council a maximum of fifty event days are allowed on the Vrijthof during a year.These numbers were far exceeded in 2008, which will again be the case this coming year. Should Rieu conduct more concerts then this matter will be addressed as appropriate.
Maastricht also wants to use Rieu's stage during the "in between days" when the violinist and his orchestras are not performing.The results for these plans are not known yet. City council spokespersons were not available for comment yesterday ...
