André Rieu's Son Pierre Writes of Pauw and Witteman Show Appearance

Pierre Rieu, son of violinist André Rieu, made a guest appearance on the Pauw & Witteman Show as a result of the virus infection which forced his father to cancel two tours.
*PIERRE RIEU BLOGS: "It would not have taken much more and I would not have been able to say another word. Yesterday was a particularly hectic day, not only for me but for the entire company and all the people around us. To cancel Heerenveen and Amsterdam was one thing. But to cancel two complete tours, was really something quite new to our company. Many people are nervous about what will happen, they do not know exactly what André is facing and what the future brings. I found it then very enjoyable when the directors of Pauw & Witteman asked me to appear and explain the situation. Of course I was nervous and the fact that the Dutch born speaker Bart Chabot was ahead of me, did not make the situation any easier. What a talent! I sat listening with great interest!
When they showed a compilation of videos of my father and myself I thought that as long as they do not show the images of Toronto, I'll make it. Unfortunately, the editors had done their work properly and a nerve was touched within me at the appropriate time. It would not have taken much more and I would not have been able to say another word. If it had not been for the sympathetic assistance of Jeroen Pauw and Paul Witteman and the other guests, I would not have been able to resume the conversation. So my neighbor handed me a handkerchief under the table and he whispered to me: "Just take a sip of water, that helps."
"Very nice. Bart Chabot saved the situation at the table by saying in plain old Dutch: "Andre just play!, Cancel all that shit!" André must have listened since this may be the beginning of other things to come.
I would like to thank Jeroen and Paul very much, as well as their entire team for their hospitality yesterday. Afterwards during the reception I received many positive comments. I landed in a warm place. It is touching to discover that so many people are behind us and sympathize with us."
Thank you, Pierre
Thanks to John for Translating this for us

I think it's only human for anyone to get emotional and deeply touched when watching those "father-and-son" clips. I think Pierre already handled it so well considering how difficult it was for him. What a sweet big boy!

Pierre & his Dad are so amazingly close it is understandable he would become emotional re-living the events of Toronto and other places. I thought Pierre was fantastic the way he handled the situation. It must seem like a never ending nightmare for them all. Let's hope all will be well soon. cheeRIEU :)

I agree with Alice and Val. I have never seen a bond such as theirs ever, and I think it is beautiful to see. They are so much alike. Greeting and saying good bye to each other with a hug and kiss, I think it is great. Pierre is a beautiful person just like his Papa.

Pierre never ceases to amaze me with his intelligence, maturity and the closeness to his father. I really appreciate that he is giving us information on Andre's affliction, but what I'm looking forward to are reports that he is indeed recovering. We all want to read news that Andre is either back to normal, or at least getting closer to a full recovery.

Thanks again, Pierre, and take good care of your dad.

I wish to thank Ruud, Ineke and John for all the translating, subtitles and information about Andre's progress. And John... Africaans, too. I know it is Dutch spoken in South Africa, but with time, such languages can become quite corrupted. Congratulations on the great work.
And, Pierre is an outstanding young man. Do so appreciate him keeping everyone up to date and taking such good care of his father. Must be so difficult for the family and all the people in the organization.
I have medical printouts of this illness and while not life threatening, it can take a very long time for recovery.
We all wish him well.
