André Rieu Must Remain Quiet Until His UK Tour

André Rieu Must Remain Quiet Until His UK Tour

AMSTERDAM by Wilma Nanninga ~ "My father has worked way too hard," says Pierre about André Rieu. "Everyone needs a vacation. The viral infection which effected his equilibrium had a chance to enter a very tired body. I am taking charge of my father. He is allowed to take the dogs out and then quietly off to bed again."

The 29 year old Pierre is caring for his father, André Rieu. He had to cancel three concerts for the first time in his career since he is too sick to work. "In Heerenveen, we had to cancel 10,000 people and in the ArenA twice 34,000 people which also included 2500 people who were unable to reach the Gelredome last winter due to an extreme snowfall. It's really a disaster. In the ArenA, we had already started to lay down plastic mats to cover the grass, on which the castle would have been built. These mats were quickly removed. We hope that the grass survived. This saves us in costs.
"Nauseous"
Four weeks ago André Rieu had time for a one week's holiday. The master violinist and conductor was down immediately. Pierre, "He was nauseous and saw the entire room spinning. Apparently, his adrenalin had kept him going. The doctor determined it was a viral infection affecting his equilibrium. The prognosis was and is rest, rest, rest. That is nothing for my father. He always overflows with energy. And now that he is slowly recovering, he is upset by his physical limitations. He wants to get busy, but he must remain quiet until his tour in the UK on 22 September."
Pierre understands the situation very well, "Luckily André is not stressed out. We caught it in time. Two years ago after the Toronto tour I collapsed. Worked too hard, and had too little sleep. When I returned to the Netherlands I fell apart. And I too would hardly slow down. I was forced to and now I do that with my father too. He has to be sensible. "

Oh, that does make your heart sink, but we certainly understand the need for a good hard rest. Andre has shown us a much higher than average energy level, and we've been the beneficiaries of a lot of joy because of it. Here's to the UK in hopes of receiving their turn of a vivacious sweep of Andre & his magic! :D

Special thanks from Down Under, Ineke & Ruud (for translating) & Sue (for posting), because there has been not a word in Australia on Andre's health (unless I have missed it!) We all wish him well, I t-RIEU-lly hope he takes notice of Pierre & his Doctors and does "rest, rest, rest". cheeRIEU from Val & Vic. Friendship Group

Yes, me too. Back in April he tweeted he was working 16 hours a day putting together a CD
- Mothers Day I think - I re-tweeted that he would burn himself out working such long hours. Our prayers and thoughts are with him and wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. His body has sent him a strong message – slow down, you can’t be a bull at a gate all the time you need to take a breadth.

Maybe he's allowed to do some light domestic work...like changing diapers for the grandbabies? But that could be extreeemely hard too... Hmmmm.....
You hang in there our dearest André!

For someone as active, energetic and busy as André, having to slow down and rest must be very frustrating. I wish him not only a full recovery, but also peace of mind. He's very lucky to have his family around to make sure he behaves, whether he likes it or not. Here's hoping he is strong and healthy again very soon.

Once again, thank you Sue, John and Ineke for keeping us informed. We're all so worried about him and hearing from his family is very reassuring.

Thanks again to Ineke & Ruud & Sue for the translated update.

Yes, it's hard to slow down - I know from experience - so enjoy your rest, Andre - You'll be felling better soon.

Pierre thankyou for being such a wonderful son. Your dad and mum will rest more easily knowing you are at the reign. Take care of your wonderful family. Andre hope you enjoy being a gentleman at rest for a little while. REST PLEASE.
Thankyou Harmony Parlor for keeping us all up to date.

I second all the remarks that have been expressed.
Sincere thanks to Ineke,Ruud and Sue for the update on Andre's illness. It's a relief to know what happened. I have imagined all sorts of nasty things that may have stopped Andre in his tracks. I pray that he will rest, rest, rest and be restored to full health and strength very soon. Lois. Melbourne

There is a bright side to all of this, first, Andre will realize that there are human limitations and his fans support him tremendously even if there could be changes in the future.

Secondly, it makes me realize just how important the Haromny Parlor is along with Ineke & Ruud's site for information. Neither is to be underestimated in anyway but deeply appreciated which they are by everyone who reads these sites. And, for me it seems something mystical has taken place by Andre's condition, somehow it seems we've come closer maybe in an impersonal kind of way that's not understood but then again I guess compassion works this way.

The world just doesn't feel right when Andre Rieu isn't happy and well! I am so glad Andre has a loving and supportive family around him. Pierre certainly understands. We love Andre the performer, but Andre the human being is ultimately more important. Rest Andre, you always give so much.
