André Rieu "The Waltzking's Kingdom"

THE WALTZKING'S KINGDOM

In the last hours prior to the performance Bild der Frau Reporter Was Up Close and Personal

Son Pierre (30) is André’s (61) most important staff member
Sometimes my father is pretty crazy.
He performs concerts all over the world, and son Pierre, his production manager is always by his side.
Bild der Frau: What is it like to have your Dad as your boss?
Pierre Rieu: Prima! The nice part is that we are very open with each other. Many people are afraid to tell him: "You are crazy, that’ll not work that way." I can say that whenever my Dad is obsessed with something or when he wants too much."
And you listen to him then, Mr. Rieu?
Of course, Pierre, as production manager is in charge. My wife and I do not perform concerts to make money, it is our lives. It is a good thing that Pierre says: "The bottom line is, it has to produce something."
Next to this very practical feature, what do you like most about your son? He is simple a lovely boy, who wants to do well, is curious and eager.
Pierre: Our father taught my brother and I from an early age on to be active. He did not want us to sit in front of a TV or computer. That is why he was very much involved with us; building sheds in the back yard or tinkering with us on soap box derby cars for instance.
Were there any periods of rebellion in the Rieu house?
André Rieu: I can still remember vividly when Pierre, when he was about sixteen, came home from the barbers with his hair dyed snow white. Looking back at that, he actually did not look too bad after all.
Are you musical Pierre?
I play trumpet and piano.
Could we soon see you together on stage?
André Rieu: Why not, I think that would be great. You never know what life will bring you."

I personally think that Pierre is a truly wonderful son to Andre and Marjorie and i am sure Marc is also. In this world today it is important that family stays close, for isn't that what matters the most. Andre said in his interview that Pierre is simply a lovely boy, who wants to do well. Pierre seems to be very caring, loving and patient, and this is simply my opinion of him and i know Andre is very proud of him. Look after your father Pierre and keep him safe and yourself as well. Remember the old saying " The most precious gift i ever had came from God, I call him Dad " Love Barb.

Well said Barb and I agree totally. We don’t see Marc that often but I’m sure he feels the same Pierre. The very strong bond between father and son is beautiful to see and I have not seen that before, ever. I think they are very proud of each other. Love and take care André and Pierre.

Great article! That would be so AMAZING to see them play together on the stage! In the picture, I'm imagining they're playing Schubert's Marche Militaire! ;-) Andre hasn't brushed the dust off of that one for awhle, has he?
