André Rieu Requires More Rest
De Limburger Friday March 2, 2012 by Peter van de Berg
MAASTRICHT- Orchestra Leader André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra will provisionally not perform in France. The violinist is still overtired and requires longer rest. His tour, which would begin next Tuesday, has been canceled. The series of thirteen concerts have been moved to October.
Just like two years ago, the world famous artist again experienced a balance problem, combined with a heavy case of flu. "The dizziness will always remain a weak spot," Cornelis said."In the autumn of 2011 André did three tours and afterwards the recordings for his Christmas special took place. This special in particular required an enormous amount of time. The texts had to be recorded in addition to the rehearsals. That ultimately took a lot of energy." The warning which Rieu in received in 2010 related to his health has not been in vein. "That is why this very difficult decision has been made.
Kerstin Cornelis, spokeswoman for André Rieu, emphasizes that the 62-year-old Maastricht violinist is physically not doing bad at all. "André just need to completely free up his head. Up untill now, he just canceled a few concerts at a time. But the pressure of having to perform again a week later still remains. That's not good for his recovery. He has therefore decided to return on April 20th. Now he has a month and a half to enjoy his grandchildrenand do other fun things at home."
"Since January André Rieu has cancelled a total of thirty concerts. Cornelis, "We are insured for matters like these. And no performances have been cancelled at all. Everything will be made up, and we will start with them in April ... After that the Brazilian tour is on the schedule.

Thanks AGAIN, John.
News sounds more encouraging in latest update by you- March 2. I'm so relieved Andre is coming along--Hope he takes as much time off as he needs to get strong again.

Andre must listen to his friends abut changing his lifestyle. Andre often says about his concert tours, "I only have to turn up and go on stage". Obviously this is still not quite true!!! Andre must finally learn to do just that and let other people take on ALL of the organisational work. He is so very precious to his wonderful family, his wonderful orchestra and the World.
