Is There More Going on With André Rieu?

Is there a lot more going on with André Rieu?
March Privé Magazine: According to Jo Cortenraedt these were just André’s fantasies and creativity, which put him where he is today. Yet there in lurks the danger which now has placed him into great difficulties. "He under estimated the physical side and that German TV show … it appears that it has done him in." Especially in the planning there seemed to have been a lot of emphasis. And for that matter, Rieu can thank his lucky star, if after Easter he indeed will make his comeback. And there again awaits him an impressive tour schedule which will chase him all over the world ... Click on link below to read the full article ...

Poor Andre, caught between the devil and the deep blue sea it seems, We all wish him well, if he needs to cut back further, I am sure all his fans would understand, in the meantine log onto Andre's website, buy something, even a small item, it all helps with the income! And I am sure when Maastricht 5comes out, it will fly off the shelves!

I agree, if every fan around the world bought one CD or DVD right now it would really help. Andre's music really does make the world a better place, so now it's time for each of us to help him out, one person at a time. Let's start a campaign!
Thanks everyone,
Jennifer D.

I just hope and pray that somehow he can be well enough to bring it all back together but I dare say whatever happens, Andre will never regret all that he has done. Hope also that he and the orchestra can somehow recoup all their losses without him becoming unwell again. You have our support, Andre! God be with you!

Disappointed that Jo would collaborate with Prive. Do we really still want him to do a dvd with personal fan stories?

And this news makes me sad, although it is hardly news of course. It's logical. If Andre wants to cut down on touring, he needs to cut down on personel, making his concerts less grande and positively intimidating.... could it be a downward spiral?
I really hope he gets well again and stays well for the rest of his life, but I can't help but shuddering a little when I think of his future.
Poor, poor maestro, he really does not deserve this.
Kate.

I think the fans won't experience a little bit less as a downward spiral. The big shows were fantastic but "back to basics" is not bad at all. Have you seen the first concerts/DVDs? The orchestra was smaller, no soloists yet, and the concerts were "jewels". Fans keep on supporting Andre and JSO, for we love him and his music.
Ineke.

Dear Andre! For us, nothing is more expensive than your health and well-being. Take care of yourself, relax more, as long as necessary for good health. And do not worry, please, you'll be fine!
With the kindest regards

I agree with everyone here...order something from Andre's website today, show him in a practical way that he has our support, always. And yes, Ineke, the spectacular dvd's/concerts were wonderful, but he's been there, done it, got the t-shirt. Perhaps now is the time for Andre to be thinking along simpler lines for future concerts, after all it's just HIM and JSO we want to see, with perhaps Mirusia, Kimi and the Platin Tenors. Romantic Paradise is still one of my favourite dvd's - no dancers, no skaters, no massive displays, just Andre!

Thank you so much for the article--scary stuff for Andre, his family and all his staff. I pray God keeps him strong and things go well for him from now on. He's certainly suffered enough.
Thanks again for all your articles that keeps us up to date on Andre--really appreciate them.

Oh, but I never said that smaller concerts are a bad thing or a downward spiral.
But if he keeps on this track, it might be a downward spiral.
I don't mind him growing smaller and getting rid of some of the extras, so to say, to ease the strain on the finances a little.
Kate.

I do not know how credible the information given in Prive magazine is. I myself would not care if Andre and the JSO wore jeans and t shirts. The music would still be fantastic.Let's all support him in anyway we can and help him recover. This unselfish man needs us now and I hope everyone on this website will help.
Thanks Carol Malvern UK

I doubt this magazine a bit, although dear André did do that charming interview in his house with the woman who I believe is the eic of this magazine, so i am confused. Whatever the case may be, I can of course only speak for myself when I say: I want André mostly. I would not mind so much if the JSO got smaller, like it was 10-11 years ago. I would not mind terribly much (sorry for saying it, it's just an opinion)if some of the soloists spread their wings and started/continued their own carreers. i can live without horses and carriages and choirs and brass bands. But it must be hard for him, all this knowledge. Poor man, get well soon and the rest will follow.

Sad to read this article, but am glad that several people mentioned helping out financially by buying products - RIGHT NOW! You have all the DVD's, CD's, and other products? Surely you have a relative or friend that would love to have something from the webshop and I would suggest that you go to concerts, too. That is what brings in the money to pay the salaries, travel, all the extras.
Delighted to see that they will return to Ontario, CA. People have always mentioned what a fantastic job PBS does there and in December 2010, my husband and I joined avid fans and saw for ourselves.
[And it's so much fun going to a concert with Andre fans.]

Come on everyone, get behind Andre and BUY SOMETHING to help out. He's given us all so much enjoyment it's time to return the favour - his DVDs helped us so much when my husband was ill and now we hope Andre himself is much better. The early DVDs and all Maastricht are good - looking forward to Maas 5 DVD. No need for huge effects, just Andre & JSO will do, with the lovely music.

I just reread Jo Coutenraedt's comments on Andre's problems. He seemed to blame ZDF for 'pushing' (my word) him to do the Christmas Special. Didn't I read that it was 'Universal Music' that wanted him to do it - mainly for the American audience? Andre mentioned installing lots of lights to make it seem American.
I'm sure it is just perfect.

It is the soul of the man Andre Rieu that is the giving. No one can display such a humanitarian nature as an artist, violinist, performer, conductor all rolled up in one. His ideas may have been grandiose but remember the castle's first showing in Toronto? Remember he wanted to see what the audience would see, he put himself in the shoes of an audience of 52,000 people. I remember my reaction very well when I saw it. He has brought happiness to lives in a greater measure to many people through music, sometimes doing the greatest thing will pay the greatest price to fulfill a dream for one's self and the people. What it shows is courage, he had the courage to take the risk that is the makings of a leader. Andre we miss you dearly, get all the rest you need, fans will be there physically, emotional and yes spiritually for you.
