The History of André Rieu Fansites Worldwide

The History of The André Rieu Fan Websites Worldwide
Especially For The New Fans
In reference to the 6th anniversary of the "André Rieu Movies Site" in January and John and Sue's Harmony Parlor anniversary in August 2013, we'd like to write a review for the new fans about the history of the André Rieu Fan web sites, as far as we know it.
André Rieu founded his Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1978. During the 80s and 90s, he was already well known in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Germany.
Ruud and Ineke had already attended a concert in a small theater in the Netherlands in the 80's and also in the 90's. Initially André was more famous in the neighboring countries than in the Netherlands, and would perform more often in Belgium, France and Germany than in the Netherlands. In 1995 his big break through in Netherlands came about with the Second Waltz.
In 1997 André performed for the first time in the USA, and primarily toured the East Coast.
In April 1998 André and the JSO performed in Los Angeles and Concord, California, and did not return to the USA until 2002

Great article and thanks so much to all you wonderful people for all you do! For those of us who listen to Andre's music all the time, love the DVDs and attend concerts when we can, it's always fun and interesting to get more info on Andre Rieu and the JSO. Just a small point- you mention the JSO first performed in the USA in 2002- they were in Boston and Connecticut (and probably other places) as far back as 1997, if I'm not mistaken. Best to all, Jennifer D., USA

Sorry, that was my fault Jennifer. I copied from the first draft of Ineke's before it had all been changed. It's corrected now. :)

Thank you one all for the History on Andre's Worldwide fansites - I enjoyed reading it. Jann's advice and encouragement Down Under in the setting up of the Andre Rieu Friendship Groups was fantastic. We wouldn't be here without her.

I can still remember the night I heard this guy on PBS Sep 2006...Who's playing the "Little Bird" song?? How come it sounds so much like the one we've been listening to for some 20 years?? Then I quickly googled this, googled that on Andre Rieu! I was literally crying when I learnt it was Andre Rieu all the time in our family. Next I discovered this Translations website. WHOW!! It's a whole new world of anything-Andre-Rieu, I was sooo excited, and I'm so blessed to have found this page. LOVE you all! Thannnk Youuuu!!!!
