ANDRE Rieu got a close-up look at Subiaco Oval today, before tonight's mega-performance concert at Perth's home of football.
The Dutch star who has made a career of taking classical music to the masses looked relaxed and laid-back as he took in the scene of tonight's concert.
Rieu may be the King of Waltz, but tonight his majesty wil make do without his palace for his Subiaco performance. The Dutch violinist and conductor could not bring his elaborate Viennese palace backdrop to WA, after failing to find a venue with entrances big enough to accommodate the huge structure. At 125m wide and 34m high, the full-size replica of the Schonbrunn Palace was too big to drop over the roof of Perth's hallowed football ground. ``You forgot to build a door on your stadium,'' Rieu told The Sunday Times ahead of the Perth performance on his A Romantic Vienna Night tour.
