During the past week, I had the opportunity to visit with Suzan Erens and see/hear her sing at the Kulturverkstedet on Sjogata Street in the historic section of Mosjoen, Norway. This was advertised as a "Luncheon with Opera" or perhaps an "opera with your coffee".
Walking down Sjogata Street, I found my way into the Kulturverkstedet or Cultural Workshop. Once inside, I located a program "Operalugsj med Suzan Erens" and began reviewing the highlights. As I was early, I could hear Suzan still rehearsing and running checks, etc. in the next room.
I decided to go into the auditorium part and take a seat quietly while she was still busy with the Vefsn Ensemble group. But she saw me, waved and came over to give me a hug. Then, she bounced back to the stage to finish last minute items. I was glad that I came early because the place began to fill-up. It wasn't long before the Overture and Suzan began to sing the first selections from "Didos and Aeneas" by English Composer Henry Purcell ...

Thnak you Ed Martin for this update on Suzan. This story warmed my heart and I'm happy she is doing well and establishing herself in her new home. It was so nice to read this story and for you to make the trek to see her. Your pictures radiate such sweetness. Thanks Sue for posting the story and I wish Suzan much success.
Martha
Glad to hear Suzan is happy and doing so well. I remember a late interview when she stated that if Andre wanted her for a JSO concert, she was available. Maybe in the future.
Laurie
Hi Ed!
I was really happy to read your story about Suzan. And.... the dog Bobbie is still with her in Norway.
Thank you very much, Ed!! And of course Sue for posting.
Love,
Ineke.
It's so nice to see Suzan again, and glad she's happy & continuing her singing. That looks like a lovely & peaceful part of the world. Thanks for making the trip, Ed! We appreciate you coordinating with Sue to bring this story to all of us.
Thank you for that lovely account and pics. of your time with Susan, Ed. I love to read and see pics. of former Andre soloists and Susan has always held a special appeal for me.
Again thanks to you, Sue, for posting.
Cheers
Bernadette
Thanks, Ed, for your report. I always love to hear about Suzan and glad to hear she is doing well. I hope someday she might do a concert again with the JSO.
Eileen
Thanks, Ed, for this wonderful report on Suzan. So glad she's doing well and happy - who wouldn't be happy in that beautiful country!
Also, Jennifer loved your pic of the airplane and description of the approach into the airport...sounds a bit tricky.
Unfortunately, Suzanne had some problems loading all of my photos and the photos shown are not in the correct sequence with text.
Well Ed, nevertheless it was a nice article. These fan web sites are all time consuming voluntary work and Sue posts new articles daily to keep us updated. We thank her a lot for that!!!
Ineke.
Ed,
I've nver been to Norway but I certainly see what you meant about the wooden buildings reminding you of those small towns in the Rockies. The structures in the one picture reminded me of Silverton, CO. I used to ride those mountain passes on ATV. Glad you had a wonderful time.
Bob Dunn,
Oklahoma City
Thank you for the update! Glad to know that she is doing well.
